  LakeTrout

Lake Trout are the largest of the Char family, the world record being 102 pounds. They are also known as Grey Trout and Touladi. The scientific name is Salvelinus Namaycush.
Lake Trout are slow growing and predatory, mainly feeding on smaller fish, frogs, warms and insects.

Since Wapoos Sibi is situated on high mountain plateau almost a mile high, our
lakes remain ice cold all year around. This supports a very healthy Lake Trout population.
The record to beat at Wapoos Sibi for the biggest Lake Trout ever caught is
42 pounds - but 20-25 pounders are fairly common.

At Wapoos Sibi, Lake Trout can be caught trolling, spinning, bait casting and even on
a fly. Some fishermen will use chub minnows along the drop-off of sand-bars
very successfully. They also can be taken on both wet and dry flies.

Down riggers can also be used very successfully at Wapoos Sibi during the months
of July and August.

The other species of fish that you can find at Wapoos Sibi, are:

Quebec Red TroutSpeckled Trout; Walleye; Northern Pike. Fly-fishing is very popular at Wapoos Sibi for all the species.
